Milton Hershey School began as a vision shared by Milton S. Hershey and his wife, Catherine, to provide a home and education for orphaned children. That dream has grown into a state-of-the-art multi-campus school and home to nearly 2,200 income-eligible children across the United States. Today, every coaster ride, every delicious dish, every concert, every hockey game, and so much more help thousands of Milton Hershey School students discover their passions, receive unlimited opportunities, and become their best selves with all costs covered.

History & Endowment

Milton and Catherine Hershey founded Milton Hershey School in 1909 to provide a school and home for orphaned boys. They held a strong and unwavering concern for the growth, development, and education of all children, especially those less fortunate. Following the death of Catherine, Milton Hershey donated virtually his entire personal fortune to The Hershey Trust Company to administer, support, and fund Milton Hershey School.
