Dunbar
Sherry Dunbar is the green coffee specialist for the York roasting
plant, one of three operational Starbucks roasting plants in the country.
She began her career as a roaster technician and transitioned to green
coffee as an apprentice to the green coffee specialist. After four
years of apprenticeship she earned the role of specialist. Dunbar has
spent time in origin countries working with agronomists on all aspects
of coffee processing. She has also worked in the Starbucks Coffee Trading
Co. in Lausanne, Switzerland tasting coffee with officers from growing
regions around the world. Currently, Dunbar is the senior training
expert for the Starbucks Coffee master program on the East Coast, she
is also the “sensory expert” for all coffee purchased
for East Coast retail. Over the last year, she has tasted over 10,000
cups of coffee as part of quality assurance for all green coffee beans
that are brought to the York plant for roasting.
