Giovanna Huyke, believes that anyone can become a good cook. Her simple guidance and engaging personality may not make you a gourmet cook overnight, but will definitely make you a loyal fan. Giovanna is not only Puerto Rico´s most acclaimed culinary expert, but she is also a cookbook author and TV celebrity chef.

Giovanna has revolutionized the cuisine of her native island by using native ingredients and cooking methods and adapting them to today´s busy lifestyles. This fully bilingual chef has been feature in Martha Stewart, Good Morning America, Burt Wolf and Regis and Kathy Lee. She appears regularly at Univision´s Despierta America. Her work has been published in Bon Appetite, Food and Wine, Travel and Leisure, The New York Times, Cristina Magazine, Shape en Espanol and The Daily News. Her extensive work started in restaurants like San Juan’s premier restaurants, Amadeus and Ali-Oli, and followed through in her personal ventures, Don Juan and Café Giovanna.

She has traveled to New York, Chicago, Hawaii, and also, Spain and Japan, as culinary ambassador, introducing Puerto Rican cuisine to those markets. She currently has a weekly column in El Nuevo Dia, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Orlando Florida and El Nuevo Herald, Miami. She collaborates with “Despierta America”, Univision TV; but it is her new daily TV,Puerto Rico’s Public Station, show La Cocina de Giovanna that really describes Giovanna’s passion. The successful program showcases recipes, with a complete interpretation of the ingredients, origins and history of each dish keeping everything, interesting but easy to follow.

Has published 20 recipe booklets and 5 books and is finishing her new venture, “Sabores de la Isla”, a book bringing to the stove past and present flavors from Puerto Rico.
