Hershey Half Marathon

The Hershey® Half Marathon is 13.1 sweet miles through Hershey, Pennsylvania. Runners take in all Hershey has to offer as they go through Hersheypark® and past iconic locations such as the M.S. Hershey Mansion, Milton Hershey School®, and down Chocolate Avenue where there is a Chocolate Aid Station. Participants can sign up as individuals or part of a 2-person relay team, as long as they keep a 14-minute mile pace.

Can bibs be transferred for the race?

Bibs are not-transferable. Please note: Only participants running under their own registrations will be eligible for prizes.

When will you share a design of the t-shirt?

Do you offer a military discount?

No, we do not offer a military discount.

What time does the race start?

The Hershey Half Marathon race starts on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 7:30 a.m. for all participants. (No strollers, roller blades, skateboards, or bicycles, please.) The Conquer Run 5k benefitting Four Diamonds start time will be announced at a later date.

Will the construction around Hersheypark affect the race and course?

There will be some changes related to the construction and the course will vary slightly. We are working on the revised course map and will share the update later this summer.

What is the minimum age for participation in the Hershey Half Marathon?

All participants must be a minimum of 14 years of age. There is a Kids' Fun Run on Saturday evening for ages 2-13. Please note: Participants of all ages are welcome to join the Conquer Run 5k.

What will the medals look like for the Hershey Half Marathon?

What are the prizes for top finishers?

*Note: Overall male and female winner will be awarded $300 prize only. Only participants running under their own registrations will be eligible for prizes. Are there Shuttles available for runners who stay at Hershey Resorts℠?

Yes! Guests of The Hotel HersheySM, Hershey LodgeSM and Hersheypark® Camping Resort will have shuttle transportation to the Hersheypark Entertainment Complex from 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 a.m., and following the race until 12:00 p.m.

Is there a Kids' Fun Run?

Yes, the Kids’ Fun Run is on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Hersheypark Stadium.

How much is the Hershey Half Marathon?

  • Are paper registration forms available?

    No. All registrations must be completed online. Accepted forms of payment are Visa, and Master Card.

    Are there predetermined locations to watch the race?

    Yes, anyone wanting to cheer on racers are encouraged to do so at Hersheypark Stadium or downtown Hershey along the route. Unfortunately due to space limitations, there is no room for spectators at the halfway point of the race on Chocolate Avenue near Wasabi Restaurant and Frederick Used Car Sales.

    When can I pick up my race packet?

    Participants may pick up their Bibs, Shirts and Goodie Bags on Saturday, October 19 from 10AM - 5PM or Sunday, October 20, from 6AM - 7:30AM, in the Hersheypark Stadium's Club area. Participants need to know their Bib # in order to pick up all of the swag.

    I can't pick up my packet then. Can someone else pick up my race packet?

    Yes, as a convenience, this year we are allowing others to pick up race packets for friends and family.

    What will runners see in Hershey?

    Runners will start and end at Hersheypark Stadium. The route includes a section of Hersheypark, Chocolate Avenue (featuring our famous streetlights!), Milton S. Hershey's home-High Point Mansion, Milton Hershey School and more!

    Can I listen to music (headphones, earbuds, ipods, etc.)?

    For the safety of all participants, we do not recommend the use of any electronic devices while participating in the Hershey Half Marathon.

    Is Hersheypark open?

    Hersheypark In The DarkSM is open during race weekend. As part of your registration, each runner receive 2 complimentary tickets to the Park, as well as a discounted coupon off admission for additional tickets. Additional tickets can be purchased online or at the Ticketing Services Building located near the tram circle.

    What else is there to do for spectators and families?

    Hershey's Chocolate World is open at 9 AM each day in October. Closing times vary. Chocolate World is located within walking distance to the stadium. On Saturday evening, a Fun Run for children 13 and under will be held at Hersheypark Stadium.
    On Sunday, the Half Marathon kicks off at 7:30 AM for runners and walkers. Spectators can view the race from various locations around town, or remain at the stadium to view the start and finish.

    If I get injured and cannot participate, are refunds available?

    No, refunds are not available for the Hershey Half Marathon unless you purchased race insurance through Run Sign Up, and registration fees cannot be applied to other Hershey races and events.

    Is the race registration fee refundable?

    No, once you have registered for the race, your position is secured in the race. We are unable to provide refunds to participants unless you purchased race insurance through Run Sign Up.

    What timing system is being used for the race?

    The Hershey Half Marathon will be timed by Mid-Atlantic Timing. Your disposable timing tag will be attached to the back of your race bib. Do not remove this chip from the bib. Be sure to wear your bib on the front of your body where it can be seen and not under any layers of clothing and run through the finish arch. After you have completed the race, walk over to one of the rapid results kiosks near the finish line to look up your finish time. Learn more about the RM Timing System from Mid-Atlantic Timing.

    How will the relay work?

    Relay teams will consist of 2 persons. Due to space limitations at the exact halfway point, the runner completing the first leg of the race will run 6.7 miles, with runner #2 running 6.4 miles.
    Transportation will be available to and from the half-way mark for those participating in the relay. Please note that ONLY registered participants will be permitted on the relay buses. Buses will be located at Hersheypark Stadium north-east gate. These buses will run on a constant loop to and from the half-way point.

    What are the pace requirements?

    Runners must maintain a 14-minute/mile pace. All participants must be clear of the course by 10:35 a.m. Those who cannot maintain this pace may be transported back to the finish line, or must move off public roads and on to sidewalks. These participants must also understand that Aid Stations and race support may not be available after this time.

    What items are not permitted?

    No strollers, rollerblades, skateboards, or bicycles please for the Hershey Half Marathon. Please note: Participants in the Conquer Run 5k, benefitting Four Diamonds, are welcome to use a stroller.

    Can I get my finishers medal engraved?

    Yes! We have partnered with iTab to create an engraved label to place on the back of your Hershey Half Marathon Medal. For just $12, you can get your name and finished time engraved and sent to you to place on the back of your medal. Visit iTab for more information and to purchase.

    If I need to take off layers and leave them on the side of the road, do you collect and donate them to charity?

    Yes, all clothing is collected and donated to local charities.

    Is there a hotel affiliated with the race?

    The Hotel Hershey, Hershey Lodge and Hersheypark Camping Resort are the Official Resorts for the Hershey Half Marathon. Find out more on HersheyPA.com.

    What if it rains?

    There is not a rain date for this event. It will be held rain or shine.

    Are there showers available for runners?

    Yes! The men's and women's locker rooms at Hersheypark Stadium will be open for post-race showers.

    Will there be an Expo or Vendor Village?

    Yes, the Expo is open on Saturday, October 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Hersheypark Stadium’s Club.

    Are there vendor slots available for the Expo?

    Yes, a vendor area will be provided this year. Email HersheyHalfMarathon@HersheyPA.com or call 717-534-3418. There is limited availability of slots available.
