These programs are presented onsite at ZOOAMERICA
in our Education Room. Programs include live animal demonstrations
and discussion on a specific topic. Following the program, groups
can experience ZOOAMERICA at their leisure. Group size is limited.

Animal Tales...A Zoo Adventure
Animal Tales is a four-week long program that meets once a week. Children in preschool and kindergarten are sure to enjoy this program with up-close animal encounters, story time, crafts, and walks through the Zoo! Morning or afternoon sessions are available.
Boy Scout Day
For one Saturday in March, your troops will enjoy all the adventures the Zoo has to offer! Both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts can participate in a variety of activities including crafts, animal encounters, and special conservation stations. Scouts will learn about the diversity of our native North American species as they explore the Zoo.
ZooCamp 2008
Grunts and growls, hoots and howls...this camp is wild! ZooCamp 2008 is now sold out! You can still contact us at 717-534-3900 to be placed on a waiting list or to be added to our mailing list for next year.
ZooCamp provides creative opportunities to learn about the wonders of our natural world. Each day your child will enjoy cool crafts, themed activities, and up-close animal encounters. Sessions are available for Grades 1 - 9. Campers must pre-register and pre-pay by May 31st, but hurry because these sessions fill up fast! Get all the wild details now!

Girl Scout Days
For one weekend in November, Junior Girl Scouts can fulfill components
for a variety of badges, including Earth Connections, Plants
and Animals, Wildlife, and Careers. Brownie Girl Scouts can participate
in Try-it activities, such as Animals, Eco-Explorer, Careers,
and Watching Wildlife by visiting a variety of stations throughout
the Zoo. In addition, scouts may also participate in a Swap Meet!
Antler Antics
Did you know that reindeer have four
stomachs? In this unique three-hour program, children in grades
K – 5 will learn fun facts and myths about reindeer and
compare them to other antlered animals at ZOOAMERICA. Children
will listen to an animal tale, make a craft, and enjoy a snack.
Wild Winter Adventure
This three-hour program is designed
to teach children in grades K – 5 how animals deal with
the cold and survive the winter. Young animal lovers will explore
the Zoo, get up-close and personal with animal encounters,
participate in storytime, and enjoy a snack.
Night Owl Tour
Are you looking for a unique way to spend an evening? Join the ZOOAMERICA
Curator / Naturalist for this 2 hour behind the scenes tour of the
medical building, education room, bears holding area and more! Learn
fascinating facts about our animals and the way we care for them.
End with dessert, coffee, tea, and soft drinks in the Cactus Community
Building.
This program is geared
for our guests 18 and older and is available year round after
regular Zoo hours for groups of up to 10 people. more>
Animal Families
This 1/2 hour program is an enjoyable and
educationally enriching experience for preschoolers through first
grade students. The Animal Families program outlines the major animal
families from invertebrates through mammals.
Birds of Prey
A variety of native birds of prey are the focus of this program. Raptor
habitats, adaptations and their importance in nature are all explored.
Reptiles
This program discusses four types of reptiles: turtles, lizards, snakes
and crocodilians. Special adaptations and characteristics of each
are discussed and demonstrated.
Grassy Waters
Life in the Florida Everglades is explored in this program. Students
will get an in-depth look at the sub-tropical wilderness of Southern
Florida.
Native Pennsylvania
Species
Pennsylvania's wildlife heritage is presented in this program, highlighting
native Pennsylvania animals and discussing the common, as well as
the uncommon species which reside in our state.
Desert Habitats
The fascinating ecology of the Arizona Sonoran Desert is the focus
of this program, which dispels common myths about deserts and investigates
the adaptations of both plants and animals for survival in this dry
environment.
Endangered Species
The Endangered Species program discusses
the major reasons for the decline in certain wildlife populations.
Habitat loss, pollution, and wildlife trade are among the issues which
are examined.
CREATURES OF THE NIGHT
This program takes a look at nocturnal creatures and examines the
adaptations that make them successful nighttime creatures.
Reindeer Group Program
Did you ever wonder why Santa’s
Reindeer only fly on Christmas Eve? Did you know reindeer have four
stomachs?
Find out fun and educational facts (and meet the 9 famous reindeer)
at this special winter reindeer program. Groups must pre-register.
