On April 22, 1970,
20 million people across America celebrated the first Earth
Day. Now 36 years later, Earth day is
being celebrated across the globe. What started as a
day of national environmental recognition has evolved
into a world-wide campaign to protect our global environment.
You can help protect the environment by saving our trees!
Not only are forests beautiful, but are necessary for
fuel, food, raw materials, medicine and most importantly
oxygen.
One of the greatest threats to forests is fire – which
can destroy not only the lives and homes of plants and
animals, but also those of the people who live in nearby
communities.
Here are ways you can help!
Buy recycled paper whenever
possible
Pack your lunch in a lunch
pail rather than a brown paper bag
